Empire Bay

Empire Bay

Welcome to Empire Bay.

Empire Bay accommodation gives you access to a popular coastal town on the Central Coast, NSW. This peaceful seaside town was not always known as Empire Bay – originally named Sorrento, after a local boarding school. It was only officially named Empire Bay in 1908 when a Postal Receiving Office was built in town and to avoid confusion with a town in Victoria with the same name, Sorrento became known as Empire Bay. The name is said to have been chosen at the time because there was no such town name in the Commonwealth region.

Located on the Bouddi Peninsula, Empire Bay is nearby popular tourist towns Ettalong Beach, Umina Beach and Woy Woy which offer plenty of leisurely activities for all occasions. Empire Bay Tavern is a popular place for locals and tourists as it offers great food, beverage and entertainment for friends and families alike. It also offers a courtesy bus back to your doorstep.

Ferry services regularly run from Empire Bay to Saratoga and Davistown. Take a short drive to Terrigal and Avoca Beach for surfing beaches and authentic cuisines such as Thai, Malaysian, Greek, Indian and seafood, of course.

Bouddi National Park is just moments away. This popular national park extends into the sea creating fully protected land, shore and marine habitats. It contains a series of small secluded beaches making it ideal for bushwalking, picnics, fishing, swimming and relation and privacy. Empire Bay is approximately 90 minutes drive to Sydney and Newcastle.
