Explore North Avoca
North Avoca accommodation is set in a relaxed beach town with a strong surfing community on the Central Coast, NSW. A peaceful holiday location for Sydneysiders, it is nestled between Terrigal and Avoca Beach, around a 90 minutes drive north of Sydney and an hours’ drive south of Newcastle.
North Avoca is split from its southern neighbour Avoca Beach by the calm and reflective Avoca Lake. Original inhabitants of the land were Awabakel Aborigines. The first Caucasian to occupy land there was Irish Army Officer John Moore in 1830. The town was originally named Avoca, Celtic for “Where the river meets the sea”.
North Avoca beach is a pristine patrolled beach with a Surf Lifesaving Club. This peaceful village is popular with locals and tourists due to its close proximity to everything. Walk along the sand to Avoca Beach and have a meal at a cafe or restaurant. When not surfing, fishing or playing in the rock pools, visitors can visit local putt-putt and golf ranges, aquatic centre, shopping centres, pubs, clubs and restaurants.
